Josh D. Toby, M.D. worked alongside Dr. Pauza for many years after completing his Interventional Spine Fellowship at Texas Spine and Joint Hospital, Baylor, the hospital Dr. Pauza co-founded. Earlier, Dr. Toby attended Baylor University as a Presidential Scholar and later earned his Medical Degree at Texas A&M, before completing his Anesthesia Residency at the University of Arizona. Dr. Toby is a Board-Certified Anesthesiologist with over 20 years’ experience in his specialty.
Upon graduating from his Residency, Dr. Toby returned to Texas and completed his Interventional Spine Fellowship at Texas Spine and Joint, Baylor, where he worked alongside Dr. Pauza. He later assumed teaching and leadership roles elsewhere before rejoining Dr. Pauza at the Institute. He is a highly regarded instructor for SIS (Spine Intervention Society) and other societies. Dr. Toby now focuses his skills and expertise helping patients with low back and neck pain.
US News & World Report awarded him Five Stars and he received their “Patients’ Top Choice Award” because of his expertise. He advanced to the level of Master Instructor at the Pauza Spine Institute, where he routinely trains Neurosurgeons, Orthopedic Spine surgeons, and other specialists how to perform the Discseel Procedure. He is also a co-investigator in several studies using fibrin and FDA-compliant Exosomes treat spinal discs.
Dr. Toby feels blessed by having two teenage sons who keep him active, and when he isn’t with them he enjoys automotive activities, rock climbing, tennis, and World travel.
Dr. Maita is a double-board-certified anesthesiologist and interventional pain medicine specialist. He focuses on spine and joint pain. His journey includes a fellowship at Mayo Clinic’s Scottsdale campus, where he received the Above and Beyond Award for patient care.
Prior to that, he earned his medical degree from Midwestern University and completed his anesthesiology residency at the University of Texas in San Antonio, where he was chief resident and recognized with the Gold Humanism award for patient care and research.
His passion lies in restoring healing through cutting-edge regenerative medicine, and understanding how each organ system works together to promote overall wellness.
Dr. Perl, a native of Richardson, Texas, is board certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) and subspecialty boarded in Pain Medicine. Dr. Perl received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Baylor University in Waco, Texas.
She went on to obtain her Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, Texas during which time she also completed an Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine Fellowship. Her postgraduate studies included: a one year rotating internship, followed by a three year residency at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals & Clinics in Madison, Wisconsin followed by an additional year fellowship in Pain Management and Spinal Intervention in Atlanta, Georgia.
She is experienced in a number of specialty areas, including diagnosis and conservative treatment of musculoskeletal and soft tissue injuries, joint injections, spinal injections, and chronic pain management. She has been in private practice for over twenty years. Dr. Perl specializes in the comprehensive non-operative management of musculoskeletal disorders including interventional fluoroscopic guided procedures including outpatient injections, spinal cord stimulators, and most exciting new to her practice innovative technology Discseel, opioid and non-opioid pharmacotherapy and acute, chronic, and postoperative chronic pain conditions and electrodiagnostics including EMG and NCS.
Outside of the office, Dr. Perl is an active Girl Scout volunteer and enjoys referring and coaching youth soccer. She is an avid animal lover and dog rescuer fostering dogs from local shelters. She enjoys spending time with her pets, working out, sailing, dancing, and travelling abroad. Her professional memberships include the American Academy of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and the American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine.
